The story deals with a couple of rural kids using their imagination to create situations that will simulate the astronaut training described in the training manual. Along the way, the kids learn something about basic physics such as buoyancy, gravity, how airplanes fly, and gee forces. All taught as a part of the flow of the story and in a non-threatening manner. The story ends with Curtis, Connie and Cosmic Cat sitting in their favorite tree looking down the long road leading up to their house. The story contains fifteen illustrations.
